News / VINAS, Valeo and ADT to Present on 3D Inverse Design Methodology at VINAS 2013

Case studies prove TURBOdesign software time-saving, efficiency and optimization capabilities.

NEW YORK, LONDON, and TOKYO – October 1, 2013 – Advanced Design Technology (ADT), a global leader in the development of advanced turbomachinery design methods and the TURBOdesign Suite, today announces that three presentations scheduled for the VINAS 2013 Conference to be held October 10 and 11 at the Tokyo Conference Center Shinagawa will focus on ADT’s TURBOdesign software and its time-saving, efficiency and optimization capabilities using 3D inverse design methodology. One presentation will be a customer case study by Dr. Manuel Henner of Valeo Systhemes Thermiques. Turbomachinery design engineers and original equipment manufacturers will benefit from the information about the 3D inverse design methodology in ADT’s TURBOdesign Suite.

According to the VINAS conference organizers, the demand for improvement in optimized design and predictability continues to grow for companies that use computer aided engineering (CAE) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology in their product development process, and to cope, the models and system sizes used for calculation is growing larger every year.

"Our 3D inverse design optimization methodology enables truly innovative solutions while reducing development time and costs," said Zangeneh. "These presentations at VINAS 2013 will show how companies dramatically shorten design times while improving accuracy, performance and efficiencies using the TURBOdesign Suite."

These are the titles for the 3D inverse design methodology presentations during VINAS 2013. For more information, go to the conference program page at: http://www.vinas.com/en/ugm2013/program_day1_a.html

  • "TURBOdesign Suite 5.3 with enhanced 3D transonic viscous inverse design code," by Yukihiro Yamamoto – VINAS.
  • "Design of High Performance Transonic/Supersonic Axial Compressor and Turbine Stages by TURBOdesign," by Mehrdad Zangeneh – Advanced Design Technology.
  • "Automotive Blower Design with Inverse Method Applied on Wheel and Volute," Dr. Manuel Henner - Valeo Systhemes Thermiques.

TURBOdesign Suite is the next evolution in turbomachinery design tools.

The design tools available to turbomachinery design engineers have evolved over the past few decades, starting from simple hand drawings and calculations on to calculators, two-dimensional (2D) computer-aided design (CAD), 3D CAD, computer-aided engineering (CAE) & CFD, and finally to 3D inverse design. TURBOdesign Suite is the only commercially available 3D inverse design software on the market today.

TURBOdesign Suite System Requirements, Availability and Pricing
TURBOdesign Suite runs on Windows systems. It operates on mid-range workstations with 2.4 GHz or better processors, 2 GB RAM and 1GB disk space. The TURBOdesign Suite is now shipping. It is sold in modules starting from $17,000 USD with software training and technical support included. TURBOdesign Technology sells TURBOdesign Suite in the United States.

About Mehrdad Zangeneh
Mehrdad Zangeneh, Ph.D and professor of thermofluids at University College London, is founding director and CEO of Advanced Design Technology (ADT). For 26 years, Zangeneh has developed advanced turbomachinery design codes based on the 3D Inverse Design approach and automatic optimization to turbomachinery design. His research has resulted in important breakthroughs in turbomachinery and marine propulsor design, and he has been granted eight international patents. In 2000, Zangeneh was awarded the Japan’s Turbomachinery Society’s Gold Medal, and in 2003 he was awarded the Donald Julius Grone Prize by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in the UK.

About Advanced Design Technology
Advanced Design Technology (ADT) is a global leader in the development of advanced turbomachinery design methods, which helps not only to shorten development time but also to improve the performance of turbomachinery components. ADT’s aim is to put designers in direct control of the aerodynamic design and to shorten, considerably, the design time and time to market for a range of turbomachinery products. ADT’s clients, who represent some of the leading global players in the aerospace, automotive, power generation and marine fields, have achieved significant returns on investment in terms of reduction in design times, higher performance and ease of know-how transfer among different design teams and projects.
