ADT is one of ALPHEUS project partner: a €5m project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program. It will improve reversible pump/turbine (RPT) technology and adjacent civil structures needed to make pumped hydro storage economically viable in shallow seas and coastal environments with flat topography.
This paper presents the results of the development of a cryogenic pump, consisting of inducer, impeller and diffuser, for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) transfer and pressurization. The newly designed pump was tested by using water test tunnel and showed good suction performance.
Two methods are used to parametrize the circulation distribution for compressor blades. Dawe's code is used to predict the viscous effect. An automatic optimization algorithm is developed to minimize the loss with respect to the design parameters.
